Dal Makhani Recipe

The favourite of  Punjabi, Dal Makhani is a popular recipe you can find in every restaurant all over in India. Dal Makhani is full of protein and fibre. Let’s prepare tasty Dal Makhani today.   This is my all the favourite Dal I use to prepare once in a week. I use lot lof butter and some cream to garnish Dal Makhani.

  • Preparation Time – 3-4 hours
  • Cooking Time -40 Mins
  • Serves person – 4-5         

Ingredients 

Ingredient Quantity
Rajma 2 cup
Masoor Dal / Black dal 1 cup
Butter 200 gm
Jeera/Cumin Seed 1 tbsp
Ginger paste 1/5 tbsp  
Garlic paste 1/5 tbsp
Onion paste 3 pics
Tomato paste 3 pieces
Garam masala 1 tbsp  
Chopped green coriandr  1 tbsp
Salt  As per taste
Turmeric powder 1 tbsp
Coriander powder 1 tbsp
Red Chilli Powder 1 tbsp

Recipe Method   

Step 1 – Soak Rajma and masoor dal  4-5 hours in enough water.   Once Soaked drain well and add in a pressure cooker.

Step 2 – Add water and  boil in pressure cooker 8 -10 whistles on a medium flame, till both the Masoor dal and rajma are boiled properly.

Step 3  Take a mixer jar add  Chopped tomatoes + Chopped onion and blend to a smooth puree.

Step 4 – Take  a pan heat 3 tbsp butter and add the Cumin seeds + Ginger + Garlic paste and stir they turn glossy. add the Onion  + Tomato puree stir again.

Step 5 – Add the Chilli powder + Turmeric powder  +  Coriander powder and stir again.

Step 6 –Then add the boil Masoor Dal + Rajma beans + add  1 cup water or more if required and stir for another 1-2 minutes.

Step 7 – Then add 150 Gram Butter and stir for 1 min.

Tasty Punjabi Dal Makhani is ready to eat, Garnish it with Butter, Cream and Coriander leaves, Serve it with Rice or Chapati/Roti/Naan or Plain Paratha.
