Punjabi Dal Tadka is one of the most served Dal in Hotels and Dhaba’s. It tastes very good after giving deshi gee tadka with red chilli or green chilli. You can easily make it in your home. I am using toovar dal/arhar dal to make this recipe which is rich in Protein.

Ingredients
  • 2 cup Tropical Green Pea
  • 6 tbsp Butter,Oil or Clarified Butter
  • 1 piece Chopped Onion
  • 2 cup Medium size Chopped Tomato
  • 1 litre Water
  • 1 tbsp Corainder Powder
  • 2 pieces Chopped Green Chili
  • 1 Pinch Asafetida
  • 1 tbsp Sour Dried Mango Powder
  • 1 tbsp Mustards seeds
  • 2 piece Dry red chilli
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tbsp chopped green coriander
  • 2 tbsp red chili powder

Instructions
  1. Assemble all the ingredients.

  2. Wash the Tropical Green Pea in cold water.

  3. Take pressure cooker add the washed Tropical Green Pea and 2 glass of water.

  4. Add Turmeric Powder and salt, Let it cook for 4-5 whistles on medium gas flame.

  5. After 5 whistles turn off the gas flame, and let the cooker cool down.

  6. Now take a clarified butter in pan on medium gas flame, Once the butter melt then add masculine powder, cumin seeds, mustard seeds and chopped green chili, and fry them.

  7. After that add chopped onion and saute them until onions are light golden brown in color.

  8. Now add chopped tomato, red chili powder, Sour dried mango Powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and garam masala mix it well.

  9. Now add masala in boiled toovar dal/arhar dal

  10. Add half cup of water in it and cook for 4-5 minutes on medium gas flame.

  11. Mix it well and bring it to a boil and cook for 5 minute and chopped coriander.

  12. After that pour this in serving bowl

  13. Now take a tadka pan on medium gas flame .

  14. Add 1 tbsp of clarified butter/ghee , When the butter melt then add dry chilies.

  15. Now off the gas flame and add 1 tbsp of Red Chili Powder.

  16. Now take this mixture and add into serving bowl.

  17. Dal tadka is ready to eat serve it with roti, chawal, chapati.
