Drumstick Masala Recipe

Drumstick Masala/Mulakkada Masala is an easy and healthy South Indian side dish. Drumstick is commonly used in south Indian dish sambhar and is also served with Rice.

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp olive or refined oil
  • 500 gram Drumstick
  • 2 pieces onion puree
  • 1/2 tbsp Turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1/2 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tbsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tbsp Cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 1/2 tbsp Dry mango powder/Amchur
  • 1 tbsp salt
Servings: person
Instructions
  1. Wash + Peal and cut Drumstick properly.

  2. Heat oil in a kadhai add cumin seeds and allow them to crackle.

  3. Add Onion Paste and saute for the 2-3 minute on medium flame to turn glossy.

  4. Now add Turmeric powder + coriander powder + Red chilli powder + garam masala + salt and stir 1-2 minuts.

  5. Add 125 ml water + add peeled drumstick and mix it well.

  6. Cover the pan and let the drumsticks cook till they become tender and well cooked.

  7. Drumstick masala is ready, Serve it with Rice.

If you like to have it as a gravy, add more water and cook for 2-3 minutes.
