Kala Chana Curry Recipe

Kala Chana or Black Chickpeas Curry is  simple Punjabi curry dish. It is very easy to make and still flavorful. Kala chana is also an excellent source of Iron and protein.

Ingredients
  • 2 tbps olive or refined oil
  • 250 gram kala chana/black chickpeas
  • 1 piece onion chopped
  • 1 piece tomato chopped
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • 2 piece green chilli chopped
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 250 ml Water
  • 1 tbsp green coriander
Servings: people
Instructions
  1. Soak Kala chana for 6-7 hours.

  2. Boil the soaked chana, use the pressure cooker to boil. It requires 5-6 whistles on medium flame to boil Kala chana properly.

  3. Heat oil in a kadhai add cumin seeds and allow them to crackle.

  4. Add chopped green chilli + chopped onion and saute for 1-2 minutes to turn glossy.

  5. Now add chopped tomato + Turmeric powder + Red chilli powder + Coriander powder + Garam masala and saute for 2-3 minutes on medium flame.

  6. Add 250 ml water and boil 1-2 minute on low flame.

  7. Take a serving bowl and pour the chana curry .

Kala chana curry recipe is ready garnished it with green coriander and green chilli, Serve it with Bhatura/Rice
