Sabudana Khichdi Recipe

Sabudana khichdi is an Indian dish made from wet Sabudana. It is an excellent vrat/fast recipe and has no onion and no garlic. It is usually made during fast like, Mahashivratri, Ekadashi Chaitra Navratri, Ganesh Chaturti vrat/fast.

Ingredients
  • 4 tbsp ghee/clarified butter
  • 250 gram Sabudana or sago soaked
  • 2 pieces potato pealed and cut small pieces
  • 50 gram peanutes
  • 2 pieces green chilli chopped
  • 1 tbsp Sendha namak
  • 1 tbsp green coriander
  • 1 tbsp vrat salt sainda namak

Instructions
  1. Assemble all the Ingredients.

  2. Soak Sabudana for 2-3 hours. When soaked drain the excess water from Sabudana.

  3. Heat 1 tablespoon ghee in a kadhai add peanuts and fry till they become crisp and keep aside to cool.

  4. Take a kadhai a heat 3 tablespoon ghee add chopped green chilli + potato + salt and fry medium flame until they turn golden brown.
  5. Once potatoes are cooked, add soaked Sabudana mix it well and stir 2-3 minutes. Cook Sabudana for 4 to 5 minutes until pearls are soft and transparent.

  6. Sabudana  Khichdi is ready, Serve it hot with curd and Lemon. Enjoy your fast with Sabudana khichdi.

Recipe Notes
  1.  To check Sabudana or Sago is soaked well or not, press one soaked pearl between your finger and thumb, it should mash very smoothly without any force.
